What a week

So, here's a question; How long does it take to recover from planning and throwing a 50th birthday party??? All week!! is the answer. Sunday after the party, I had people at my house at 7:30 for breakfast. Thank God, I got up at 7:00 to start. Everyone left around 2:00 that day. Everyone else took naps, I wanted to stay awake in case Noah woke up cause Erin was up the whole night before with him. Monday, Erin left around 10:30 and Pat came over and visited until around 2:00 and it was so nice to catch up. Thank Goodness I took the day off cause I was wiped out.
Tuesday, I didn't get up to spin, and when I got in my car to go to work, low and behold, it wouldn't start. Got to work finally and was so tired all day, this after at least 10 hours of sleep.

Wednesday, Mark woke up with the flu, I went to work, but again, felt like I'd been run over by a truck, this after another 9 hours of sleep.

Thursday, I had to pick my sweet mom up from her house in Pismo, give her a Zanax so she could tolerate her dental appointment, take her and pick her up from her appt, go back to work to do an interview, and come home to my sick hubby. I did get up and do pilates today with Toni, and I would summarize my hours of sleep this week to average about 9 to 10 per night. So, why is it, that I am still tired??? Too much sleep? I'm old? Not enough Carbs?? (that would be a nice one :) And, can we talk about the dreams I've been having!!! vivid doesn't describe them, and wierd doesn't do them justice. I don't even want to know what they mean, maybe years of therapy. I couldn't even make them up, even with a good imagination. It makes for interesting conversation over coffee and internet in the morning with my husband.

Mark's 50th!

Saturday Night, we celebrated Mark's 50th Birthday Party. With about 47 family and friends, we honored my birthday boy!! It was a blast, and we had wonderful food, prepared by Chef Rick, and lots of laughs. The weather was beautiful and we had heaters and umbrellas outside, and we took all our furniture and rug out of our family room so, there was lots of room for everyone. It was a great success!!

GETTING READY FOR THE BIG 50

not mine, not yet anyway :) It's Mark's 50th and we are celebrating with about 45 people tomorrow night at our house. Another one of my favorite people is celebrating her 26th this weekend too. Hopefully, my beautiful daughter will be able to come up so I can help her celebrate in on Sunday. But, she's a mom first, and Noah is kind of sick so, she may be celebrating at home this year. But, if that's the case, I'll come down in a couple of weeks and we can do some retail celebrating!!! I'll post pictures on Sunday of the party!!!

My Mom's 85th!!!

My beautiful mom, turns 85 on the 13th of January. Tonight at my brother's house, we got together to celebrate her birthday. Let me tell you a little bit about my mom:

She's the oldest girl of nine children.
Since my grandma worked a farm, she pretty much raised her younger sisters and one brother.
She was an avid athlete in high School. She played tennis, bowled and was a awesome softball player. She had to sneak and play sports cause her dad didn't think she should.
When she was in high School, her family moved from San Luis Obispo to Santa Maria. Since my Mom was a Senior, she chose to live with a Doctor and his family and be a nanny to his children after she got done with School so she could finish her senior year. She missed her siblings so much, she couldn't wait to move home.
She was a Rockette All Star softball player during World War II, playing short stop. I have clippings from the local newspaper of her outstanding plays. Years later, she was inducted into her hometown's Athletic Hall of Fame.

My mom has always been active. I've never known her to be idle. She's always exercised and until probably six years ago, could run circles around me. she has always been so disciplined with her diet. For years, she did weight watchers and I can remember she would always write down what she ate.

Here are some pictures of her 85th Birthday celebration. I couldn't love my Mom more than I do, or be prouder to be her daughter. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful example of what a mother and grandmother should be.

Christmas and New Years

Okay, obviously I'm a slacker when it comes to updating my blog. When I watch my daughter update hers, she does it so effortlessly, I on the otherhand, am still getting the hang of it all and so, as of right now, it seems a chore, and believe me, I have plenty of those. Christmas was everything one could hope for, I spent the 23rd with my highschool girlfriends ( who don't want their picture posted) it was wonderful to catch up. The 24th, I had a Christmas Eve Open House and Good Friends and my brothers and family came over. I loved visiting with everyone and having tamales and all the fixings. Christmas day, we went to 7:30 Mass, in the pouring rain, and mind you it was pouring sideways so it didn't matter if you had an umbrella. My mom thought that we should of gotten extra credit for this :). We came home, and my Mom, Mark and exchanged gifts and patiently waited for the kids to wake up. Finally around 10:30 we woke them up.

Mom and I got started on dinner and Erin and Jed showed up around 2:00. We watched Natalie open her gifts and once she got her battery operated horse, nothing else mattered. It was adorable and so heartwarming.

We all had dinner, visited, laughed and played some Wii and hit the sack. Erin and Jed decided to leave Friday and I spent the afternoon with my favorite niece Michelle and then Saturday, Mark's Mom came up and spent the day and then Sunday, Mark's brother and Sister-in-law and kids came up. Wow!!! lot's of family but, I honestly loved every moment of it. Actually all I wanted for Christmas was just to be around the people I love and Since the month didn't start off so well with lots of stuff going on at my work, it was just what I needed and I couldn't of felt more blessed and Thankful.
New Years, we spent with our friends in Cambria and had a blast. We met up around 3:30 and just visited and had dinner right next door to our hotel. We had planned on getting all dressed up and going to a fancy restaurant, but I honestly didn't even open my suitcase. We stayed in our comfy clothes and had a really nice casual dinner. We then went back to Karla and Steve's room since they had a suite, and played Apples to Apples. It was hysterical. Us old folks didn't make it till midnight, but no big deal. The next morning we had a yummo breakfast at Linn's restraunt and then mark and I went back down to Moonstone beach and walked up and down the beach. It was an absolutely beautiful day. What a wonderful way to start the New Year.

The rest of the month is crazy busy. Mark's 50th is the 18th, as is Erin's 26th, and My beautiful Mom turns 85 on the 13th. Lots to celebrate.

And since I'm still blog challenged, these pictures are backwards and Start with New Years back to Christmas Eve... Patience....
